Posted: March 5, 2012 in making, to do

Directions:
1) No computers allowed. Think of a design or picture you want to make.
You can make something like a “self-portrait”, shapes, animals, flowers, leaves, or scenery.
2) Lightly draw a simple outline of your picture.
3) Cut paper into small squares.
4) Glue your pieces of paper over the sketch you just made.
5) You must fill your whole paper with color.

Decoupage (“dek-oh-pah-sh”) Boxes

Posted: February 2, 2012 in making

Decoupage is a fancy way of saying the art of decorating with colored paper cut-outs, paint, & glitter.
Materials Needed: Small boxes — small takeout boxes or margarine tubs would work well, White glue & water,
Plastic bowls, Paintbrushes, Magazines, Color Catalogs, Newspapers, Scissors, Glitter Glue.

1) Cut out shapes and pictures that interest us from magazines and newspapers.
2) Mix glue & water in plastic bowls. “Paint-on” your cutouts in desired patterns.

Pop-up cards! ^^

Posted: December 5, 2011 in making

Choose someone to give your cards to: Room mate, teacher, friend, or family member. Choose a shape (For example, a Christmas tree, a heart, a present, or a star!) These are directions for a heart, but you can try anything:

Step 1: Fold a piece of paper in half and then again. Open it up the long way.

Step 2: Draw half of a heart at the fold. Halfway down the heart shape, make a space.

Step 3: Cut from the top of the heart to the top of the space. Then cut from the bottom of the heart to the bottom of the space.

Step 4: Fold the heart back and forth many times. Bring the heart back to center. Unfold the page almost completely, and gently push the heart through to the other side.

You should have a heart that pops out of the paper.

Write something in English and decorate it!~

Artist Copy-cats

Posted: September 30, 2011 in making, painting, sketching

Create art based on other artists’ styles.
Examples of artists you can copy, but with your own style:
• Charles Schulz- create our own comic strips inspired by “Peanuts”.
• Georgia O’Keefe- close-up flowers and skulls.
